Worship at First Church

Sunday mornings are a joy here at First Church. From September to June, our services begin at 10 a.m. During the summer months, we participate in joint worship services with South Church, our sister UCC church. Summer service begins at 10:00 am. In July, we will be worshiping at South Church; in August, First Church.

Our style of worship reflects the wide range of religious backgrounds represented in our congregation. We place a high value on evocative sermons, inspiring music, and robust hymn-singing, but we also enrich our services with a variety of sung responses and moments of silence.

During the “Joys and Concerns” you will feel the warmth and support in our community. People share information and request prayers for individuals and families of the church as well as for those in the wider community and around the world.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. The communion table is open to all: baptized or not, believer or doubter, you are welcome to take part. We serve grape juice and include gluten-free bread alongside regular bread.

During the school year, we offer Sunday school for children from kindergarten to fifth grade.
